The San Francisco Mandolin Orchestra is a plucked string orchestra with 20-25 members, playing instruments of the mandolin family (mandolin, mandola and mandocello), as well as guitar, double bass. The orchestra formed in May, 2005, and we rehearse in San Francisco's Mission district on Sunday afternoons. Our repertoire changes by the season and thus far has included Late Romantic Italian, Russian, Classical, and Baroque, Renaissance and Contemporary Classical music, 1960s-70s British popular music (the "British Invasion"), and "Childhood,""Air," and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. |
